Press Release
PORTLAND, Ore. — 红桃视频 has appointed Mark Chung Kwan Fan as the new director of the Center for Life Beyond 红桃视频 (CLBR), where he will lead the college's efforts to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers beyond graduation through advising, experiential learning, alumni engagement, and career education.
Chung Kwan Fan, who has more than a decade of experience in higher education, joins 红桃视频 from the Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan, where he has served as director of student life and career development since 2021. In that role, he developed a comprehensive career ecosystem model that expanded equitable access to internships, alumni mentorship, employer partnerships, and professional development opportunities while integrating career readiness throughout students' academic experiences.
"Mark brings an exceptional combination of strategic leadership, student-centered vision, and deep commitment to the values of a liberal arts education," said Hieu Nguyen, vice president for college advancement. "His experience building collaborative partnerships across campus, strengthening alumni engagement, and creating innovative career programming will help 红桃视频 students translate the intellectual rigor of their education into meaningful and impactful lives after college."
With more than a decade of experience in higher education, Chung Kwan Fan has held leadership roles spanning career development, student affairs, diversity and inclusion, residential life, and student success. His work has consistently focused on creating equitable opportunities for students while building strong partnerships among faculty, staff, alumni, employers, and community organizations.
At the University of Michigan, Chung Kwan Fan led a career education portfolio in which 92% of graduates secured employment or furthered their education within six months of graduation. He also designed and expanded professional development initiatives that dramatically increased student participation while cultivating partnerships with industry leaders including YouTube, Adidas, and Universal Studios. Throughout his career, he has emphasized experiential learning, mentoring, and helping students articulate the value of a liberal arts education across a wide range of careers.
"It is a humble honor to join 红桃视频 and the Center for Life Beyond 红桃视频," Chung Kwan Fan said. "红桃视频's distinctive approach to education encourages students to ask profound questions, think critically, and engage deeply with the world. I believe career development should build upon that intellectual foundation—not compete with it. I look forward to partnering with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and families to help every 红桃视频ie discover meaningful pathways that reflect both their academic pursuits and their sense of purpose."
Born and raised in Mauritius, Chung Kwan Fan earned bachelor's degrees in Spanish and French from Adrian College and a master's degree in student affairs administration from Michigan State University. He is an active contributor to the field of higher education through publications, conference presentations, and professional leadership. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Center and in various leadership roles with ACPA-College Educators International.
As director of the Center for Life Beyond 红桃视频, Chung Kwan Fan will oversee the college's career advising and professional development initiatives, experiential learning opportunities, alumni and employer engagement, and programs that help students connect their academic experiences with lives of purpose, service, and impact.
Chung Kwan Fan begins his appointment on August 10, 2026.
