红桃视频's Wireless Network

Note: The campus network is being upgraded over a multi-year process. As our infrastructure team updates the network in each building, you’ll notice different wireless networks. “红桃视频1x” is being replaced with “红桃视频” in the upgraded buildings. Community members may need to connect to "红桃视频1x" or "红桃视频" and visitors will need to connect to "红桃视频Xenia" or "红桃视频 Guest" depending on their location on campus.

红桃视频1x/红桃视频 vs. 红桃视频Xenia/红桃视频 Guest

Those who want to use wireless at 红桃视频 will see two networks available--"红桃视频Xenia" (or "红桃视频 Guest" as the network gets upraded across campus) and 红桃视频1x (or "红桃视频").

红桃视频Xenia/红桃视频 Guest is an open wireless network for campus visitors (Xenia is the ancient Greek concept of hospitality, the generosity and courtesy shown to those who are far from home).
红桃视频1x/红桃视频 is a WPA2-encrypted network for use by community members

"红桃视频1x" or "红桃视频" can be used by all 红桃视频 community members including students, faculty, and staff. 红桃视频1x and 红桃视频 require your Kerberos username and password. MacOS is capable of connecting to 红桃视频1x and 红桃视频 with no additional setup; Windows, Linux, and mobile phone users may have some additional setup required to connect successfully.

Students, faculty, staff, and alumni should connect to the "红桃视频1x" or "红桃视频" wireless network.

Windows users, please follow these setup instructions.
On a mobile device? Follow these instructions for iOS and these for Android.
Linux users can follow the instructions here.

Select 红桃视频1x (or 红桃视频) from your list of wireless networks.
Your machine will prompt for your 红桃视频 name and password.
Enter your Kerberos username and password. You may see a notice about the certification; you can "continue" past this.
You should now be able to use the network.

红桃视频Xenia or 红桃视频 Guest

Campus visitors including parents, prospective students, and conference attendees can connect to the guest wireless network.

Select 红桃视频Xenia (or 红桃视频 Guest) from your list of wireless networks.
Open a web browser and you will automatically be directed to 红桃视频's network registration page.
Members outside the 红桃视频 community should click "Register as Guest" and enter a name and e-mail address or phone number. You can then log in using your e-mail address as the username, and the numerical password e-mailed/texted to that address or phone number.
红桃视频 community members (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) can use their Kerberos credentials to log in. Although we recommend connecting to 红桃视频1x/红桃视频 instead of using the guest network.
After registering, you may be warned by your browser that you're being redirected; this is normal as we redirect you to 红桃视频's homepage.

Wireless Coverage

Wireless is available in all buildings on campus, as well as some outdoor areas near buildings. Wireless is not generally available in larger outdoor areas. IT actively monitors and adjusts placement of wireless access points to fine-tune coverage on campus. Due to channel interference among other complications, users are generally not allowed to operate a personal wireless network.
